Werra-Rundschau: Mr Richter, do you get used to
always only building the biggest there is in the world?
AXEL RICHTER: Well, we are not at all afraid of
superlatives. Nevertheless, it is of course each time a challenge
which we have to adapt to.
WR: The economic situation is improving, are
you noticing that too in Hessisch Lichtenau?
RICHTER: Yes we are, but we are not so
dependent on the general economic situation because we have
customers from very different industries. If one is not doing well
then the other is. We always have plenty to do.
WR: Who is doing well at the moment?
RICHTER: All industries involved in energy.
WR: How does your company profit from that?
RICHTER: We are producing parts for an
excavator which is used to mine sands containing oil, we are
building parts for a pipeline pipe press and supply components for
wind turbines.
WR: Enormous equipment is built in your firm.
But the dimensions are given in millimetres. Why?
RICHTER: Because, no matter how large the
pieces are that we produce, maximum precision is always important
too. Especially where large forces act, for example in a cement
mill where rock is ground, everything has to fit precisely.
WR: Is there a limit?
RICHTER: 280 tonnes is the maximum. The mobile
cranes can't handle more than that.

Salzmann.
